D2 Coilovers Street VW PASSAT B7 WAGON 3C 2WD φ55 (Cancellation for Electronic Damping) (10~15)
"This kit is for cars with active suspension. This electronic damping cancellation kit prevents ECU failure when suspension is upgraded to D2 coilovers. Without this kit it results in a service light. Don't have an active chassis? Then look at the same part number WITHOUT the ending -C"
D2 Coilovers for your daily driver
It's no wonder that D2's entry-level coilovers has become a first choice for those who wants to improving their car’s handling, you get to a nice look but at the same time you keep a large part of the comfort. We and several thousand of our customers praise this version for those qualities!
The tuning gives a sporty character but in many cases this kit becomes more comfortable than an original car where only lowering springs have been mounted on the original shock absorbers. This can be thanked for the fine shock absorber that is made of mono tube construction (separate oil and gas in the shock absorber) that gives a very stable performance on the road.
You can adjust all four shock absorbers individually in 36 levels. You then have the opportunity to balance over and understeer your car and easily find a setting that suits your car. You can have a normal mode that you can adjust harder if necessary.
The ride height can be adjusted steplessly by adjusting the lower fastening mount up or down on the shock absorber body. This provides a perfect reconciliation between the spring and the shock absorber no matter what height you have on the car (unlike coilovers where the ride height is adjusted on the spring). Major improvements have been made mainly in the top mounts. The top mounts has the patented rubber vulcanization of the pillowball layer that greatly reduces noise and klonk sound noise from the coilover that otherwise occurs with poorer road surfaces. This phenomenon suffers many competing brands from.
Uniquely, D2 has also equipped the top mounts with an additional sliding bearing on the McPherson versions that has made a big difference when turning. On the McPherson version (which is the most common construction) the entire front coilover twists when turning. This places great demands on the top mounts and this is where D2's new coilovers differ from previous versions and their competitors. This sliding bearing allows the steering wheel to return to its original position after a turn, just like on an original car. This removes the clonking and creaking sounds that often occur on coilovers when turning.
To extend the life of your coilovers, we strongly recommend that you protect them with our coilover covers. These protect the springs from corrosion and avoid clogging the threads with salt and other contaminants. With socks on, they look like new underneath and enable future adjustments! Top Mounts:
On cars with McPherson setup, three different top mounts are offered; P+, R and in rare cases P.
(P+): This is standard on McPherson version. It has a rubber-vulcanized pillowball construction that reduces road noise. With this you can usually adjust the camber angle at the front.
(R): This top mount has a ball bearing instead of a pillowball and is a choice for those who want a top mounts that resembles an original car and is maintenance-free unlike a pillowball construction. This top mounts always lacks the camber adjustment.
(P): This top mount has a pillowball construction. It's standard on our racing kits. It gives a distinct feeling but lacks some of the comfort of which is found in P+ and R. This is usually camber adjustable.
(A): On cars with A-arms construction in the front, the top mount is called A. This design is considered to be the best construction car design on cars, but is also more expensive to manufacture. Therefore, it is not so common on standard cars. The Camber angle is adjusted only on the link arm and not in the top mounts.
(OE): Some cars have a special design in the top mounts which force D2 to adapt its top mount to the car's design, this lacks camber adjustment and is called (OE).
See which top mounts that are available for your model under the specifications (you can see them under the Add to Cart button). Do you see a choice between "P+" and "R"? Then the default is "P+" on delivery. If you want "R", at checkout you can leave a message about your order. Then write that you wish top mount "R" as a message to us.
