D2 Mono Caliper – Proven Performance at an Unbeatable Price!
D2’s classic Mono calipers are among the most affordable and proven high-performance calipers on the market. After many successful years in racing and trackdays, these iconic calipers remain in the lineup. An 8-piston caliper without dust cover, for disc sizes 330–356 mm.
Perfect for those who want racing performance at a truly competitive price!
D2 Mono Caliper – Forged, Stiff, and Light
The classic D2 Mono calipers are forged from a single piece of aluminum (forged monoblock) – the same technology used in premium calipers from Brembo, AP Racing, and Alcon.
This manufacturing method eliminates flex, increases torsional rigidity, and provides more precise and predictable braking behavior – whether you’re driving on the street or the track.
The Mono calipers are suitable for summer cars or trackday cars and can be chosen without dust covers. Keep in mind that dirt can more easily enter and MAY cause sticking pistons. This is not covered by the warranty and is considered routine caliper maintenance. We supply all spare parts if you need to service your kit.
Advantages of D2 Mono Calipers:
- Forged monoblock design for maximum torsional rigidity
- Low weight = reduced unsprung mass
- Stable pedal feel under hard braking
- Proven performance in Swedish Time Attack and racing
Floating Disc?
The brake discs are always two-piece with an aluminum bell housing and a ventilated steel disc. Sizes 330–356 mm come standard with a fixed mounting using M8 bolts and nuts, but you can upgrade these to a floating disc.
A fixed disc works well in most cases, but if you use your car on the track, we recommend upgrading to a floating disc. When the disc heats up, it wants to expand, but when it is fixed to the "hub," it cannot expand radially (outwards) and will warp/bend. This causes the friction surface to no longer remain parallel between the pads, pushing back the caliper pistons.
A floating disc primarily prevents a phenomenon called “pad knock-back,” where the pad moves inside the caliper during hard braking, pushing the pistons back and altering brake feel for the next stop. This results in a longer brake pedal travel and, in extreme cases, may require “pumping” to regain full braking power. This is highly recommended for trackday cars, especially those with McPherson front suspension.
Disadvantages of floating discs include a slightly higher price. For track or racing use, it’s an obvious choice, and several of us at Street Performance use floating discs without any issues – highly recommended!
Contents
The brake kit includes a pair of two-piece brake discs, calipers, adapters, street/sport pads, stainless steel braided brake lines, a mounting kit, and an English manual.
Here you will find guidelines for wheel sizes required to fit our brake kits. Remember, these are general recommendations – specific wheels may vary, and a spacer may be required if the offset (ET) is insufficient. We take no responsibility for fitment in your wheels. We also provide brake templates so you can test if the kit fits your wheels – contact us for this.
Wheel Sizes Typically Required for Each Brake Kit:
330 mm = 17” | 356 mm = 18”
You can choose the disc in either drilled or slotted versions. Drilled discs are recommended for primarily street use, especially if you drive in wet conditions. Slotted discs can create resonance and noise if used incorrectly (with standard pads or light use), which rarely happens with drilled discs.
If you drive extensively on track or have a dedicated race car, you should choose slotted discs. Slotted discs are combined with racing pads. Drilled discs work fine for trackdays but cannot handle prolonged high-stress use as well as slotted discs.
Street/enthusiast car = Drilled disc
Race car = Slotted disc
The included brake pads are sport pads suitable for spirited street driving and year-round use. For heavy track use, upgrade to D2’s own racing pads or a third-party brand (contact us for guidance if unsure). Click here to view pads for our D2 kits.
Calipers come free of charge in purple, black, red, or yellow. For an additional cost, you can choose from multiple colors and finishes. Special treatments such as chrome, gold chrome, and titanium are also available. NOTE! Chrome, gold chrome, and titanium are show finishes and not recommended for year-round use.
See the separate menu “D2 Kit Options” under the previous brakes menu, or click here. There you select caliper color, disc type, and optional floating discs or race pads. After placing your order online, we ALWAYS contact you before ordering/delivering your brake kit to ensure your selections are optimized.
Some brake kit sizes are less common and therefore slightly more expensive from D2. This means a smaller size can sometimes be more expensive than a larger one. We provide the correct price upfront with no additional charges.
Check the brake kit specifications under “Add to Cart” on the right.
Don’t forget to purchase proper brake fluid – we strongly recommend Motul RBF 600 or RBF 700. Also, consider brake caliper paint to match the rear calipers if you are not buying a D2 rear kit.
